We are excited to announce the official launch of the “Local Discovery – Developing Solutions for Geographically Excluded Areas and Social Activation of People in Local Communities” project! Yesterday’s online kick-off meeting brought partners together to align on project goals, plan upcoming activities, and set the stage for the first in-person project meeting, which will be hosted by DOREA in Limassol, Cyprus.

About the Project

The Local Discovery project is dedicated to supporting and promoting local assets in peripheral and rural areas. By fostering social activation—particularly for individuals aged 50 and over—the initiative aims to drive community-led tourism development and unlock the untapped potential of local communities.

To bring this vision to life, the project will deliver:

  • Activation training that highlights the value of local resources
  • Workshops designed to rediscover and showcase local history, culture, and products
  • Practical tools for local promotion and community engagement

Project Goals

The project is built around three core objectives: strengthening local identity and tourism potential, encouraging social activation among seniors aged 50+, and empowering local communities to make the most of their unique resources.

Project Partners

The project is coordinated by Forum Regionalnych Organizacji Turystycznych (Poland), in partnership with DOREA International Research and Sustainable Development Centre (Cyprus).

Stay tuned for updates as we embark on this exciting journey to bring lesser-known regions into the spotlight and create new opportunities for local communities across Europe!
